De Gaulle: The Rebel 1890 - 1944

£6.99

Product description

This is the first volume of the story of General de Gaulle, this being from his birth in 1890 up to the end of the Second World War. With even-handedness and with respect for the details of the General's extraordinary life, the author reveals a rebel who was also an instinctive leader and thinker. While de Gaulle recognised the role of authority , he questioned established truths and in the dark and chaotic years of the Third Republic he was a guiding light, leading a crusade against the political ineptitude of an all but vanquished establishment. The book ends with de Gaulle's triumph in August 1944.

The book is in excellent condition, but there is some marking on the jacket spine.
