Fortification : Its Past Achievements, Recent Development, and Future Progress

£75.00

Product description

310 pp with 65 illustrations. The boards are bumped and show evidence of possible water damage. The gilt lettering is rather worn but still legible. The binding is cracked but not broken inside both front and back covers and the roughcut page edges are browned with age. A tear in the front endpaper has been mended with a small piece of sticky tape. As well as the author's signature there is the handwritten name and stamp of a previous owner at the front. His address in Canada appears at the end of the book. Many pages have been neatly annotated, including the List of Illustrations, in at least two different hands . Some annotation is in French but most is English and all notes are neat and do not obscure the text. There is a page of neat notes on the back endpaper and a sepia photograph stuck on the other side. The fold-out map and illustration facing p 32 is only attached at the bottom quarter. The pages are clean and unmarked, apart from annotation which appears to add information and explanation to the main text.

Oxfam Bookshop Reading

One of the largest bookshops in the Oxfam network, Reading Books has more than 5000 different titles in the shop at all times. We have unusually large sections in science fiction and fantasy, literature, history, travel, children's, business and the sciences. There is plenty of space for browsing and a couple of chairs for customers who wish to inspect books more closely. We also have a catalogue of about 1000 collectable books that are kept in the backroom, and these can be brought out for customers to view on request.
