In the 19th and early 20th centuries the Middle East was the crossroads between India and Europe and a time of great activity as diplomats, merchants, soldiers and explorers saw at first hand the lives of the great families, the forbears of the founders of the modern states. Vol.1 382 pp. Vol.2 391 pp. Neither dustjacket is price-clipped and both have light shelf wear. The dustjacket for Vol.1 has a small split (1/2 " long) near the bottom of the back folded edge. The binding of both volumes is tight and cut edges are clean.There is a bump and crease on the top right outside corner of volume 1. The pages, actual text and the foldout map in volume1 are clean and unmarked. Weigh 2300g together so will incur higher postsl rate.
