Old and New London

£150.00

Product description

"A narrative of its History, its People, and its Places, Illustrated with Numerous Engravings from the Most Authentic Sources." Complete in six volumes. Bound in three-quarter leather and brown pebbled board. The publication probably dates from the 1870s or 1880s (date unstated).

Condition: The set is in a sorry state as regards the bindings. Although all the covers are present they are all rubbed and stained and all detached from the textblock with the exception of Volumes III and IV, where three are still (just) attached. All of the spines are torn, with that to Volume VI completely missing. All volumes exhibit some foxing, though not seriously so. The textblock is unmarked and appears to be complete (though a few pages are loose). The value of the set clearly lies in the profuse illustrations, mostly intra-textual but some full-page.
