Old New Zealand

£9.99

Product description

In this book the author begins his story in the days when he was an adventurous young man in, as he writes, 'those good old times before governors were invented and law, and justice, and all that, when everyone did as he liked, when there were no taxes, or duties, or public works ...' and 'those baneful influences of civilization' had not yet impregnated the life of the country. He places before us a most vivid and entrancing picture of the life of the Maori of those 'good old times'.

This is no mere story - it is an eye-witness account of life as it was actually lived by the natives and shared by a pakeha Maori.

Hard back book with dust jacket. The jacket has some tears along the edges and is price clipped, but is generally in good condition. The book cover has some pale markings along the upper edges. There is an inscription at the front dated Xmas 1958. Apart from this there is no indication of the publication date. The binding is good and the pages are in very good condition throughout.
