Product description

This is a facsimile edition of Gertrude Jekyll's book first published in 1904. This edition was published in 1971 by County History Reprints.

It contains 330 illustrations and photographs based on the author's own photographs that appeared in the original edition. These cover a wide range of subjects including the houses, people and artefacts mentioned in the book.

In the book Gertrude Jekyll attempts to set down her remembrances of the ways and lives and habitations of the older people of the working class of the county in which she lived continuously from her early childhood. As such it is a fascinating historic document as well as a slice of social history.

It is complete with the original unclipped dust jacket (slightly yellowed) and the whole book is in a very good clean condition.
