Operation Paraquat

£24.99

Product description

FIRST EDITION: Blue cloth covered book with gilt titles on the spine, in very good condition. The dust jacket is also in very good condition, there are a few signs of wear but only some rubbing and there is a bend along the top edge at the back. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound. It tells the story of the Battle for South Georgia in 1982. It is illustrated with maps and photographs, some in full colour and some in black and white. South Georgia is a cold and lonely island in the South Atlantic and this book tells the story of the people who found it, explored it, exploited it, and then fought for it. The dramatic naval and military actions conducted on and around South Georgia during the Anglo-Argentine war of 1982, and the polictical failures which were the root cause of those actions, form the main body of this absorbing and deeply researched account. A large and heavy book.
