Product description

"Man's aim from the beginning of time has been to establish communication with his fellow-creatures and so overcome artificial borders. Modern science has enabled him to speak by wire or wireless over thousands of miles, while transport by road, sea and air has annihilated distance in an almost inconceivable manner. Wonderful as all these things are, however, the fact that sight has been limited to the natral horizon has always been a drawback when it is desired to convey complete intelligence. The advent of television seeks to destroy this limitation by furnishing means whereby both the senses of sight and sound, through the medium of electrical methods of communication, can be used between distant points. Although only on the threshold of its development its possible ramifications will become eventualy a factor of far-reaching importance..." This classic critical work provides a timeless narrative on television.

This is a 1st edition copy of H.J. Barton Chapple's work. The buckram cover is watermarked and foxed as well as the end plates. The book contains accessible diagrams and adverts from the year it was published.
