Raynes Park With West Barnes & Cannon Hill, A Social History

£40.00

Product description

Jowett, Evelyn M.

The Merton Historical Society. First published 1987.

Paperback, in very good condition, probably has been read but little sign of wear. Some slight creasing on the spine and a slight crease on the corner of the cover.

The area of Raynes Park, part of the parish of Merton, remained rural until late into the 19th century. The first development in the area was the opening of the London & South Western Railway in May 1838 which crossed the area on a high embankment, although the station did not open until later. This interesting account of the area published in 1987 is rarely available to buy, but appears to be the only account of the area's early history through to the late 20th century.
