Records of Buckinghamshire (set of 8)

£49.99

Product description

8 volumes of the journal of the Architectural and Archaelogical Society in Buckinghamshire, dated 1936-1960. The records include photographs, wills, maps and historical records surrounding the county of Buckinghamshire. The editions in this collection are:
Vol XIII Part III (1936)
Vol XV Part V (1945)
Vol XIV Part VI (1946)
Centenary Number (1947)
Vol XV Part II (1948)
Vol XV Part III (1949)
Vol XVI Part III (1957-8)
Vol XVI Part V (1960)

The volumes are in excellent condition. There are pencil markings on some of the covers and the older volumes in particular have damage to the edges of the covers and pages. From the centenary volume (1947), the covers are more durable and have protected the pages within much better. Some of the spines have damage at the top and bottom and there is discolouration on all of the covers. These is also foxing on some of the pages in the later volumes. The inside pages are decorated with interesting diagrams and photographs of, among other things, archaeological finds.

The 1946 volume is unusual as the pages have been uncut and are still attached to one another at the top edge. This could be easily rectified for a reader but also makes it a very interesting item.
