Scenery, England and Wales: Enhancing Your Enjoyment Of The Great Outdoors

£15.99

Product description

For its size, Britain has one of the most diverse and rewarding landscapes in the world. From the high peaks in the North, to the soft downs in the South; from the rugged coastline of the South-West to the fast-eroding coast of the East, walkers or cyclists can experience dramatic contrasts without having to travel vast distances. In this simple and informative guide, Lionel Joseph prompts readers to look with new eyes at the sights and phenomena of the English and Welsh scenery. The book introduces aspects of geology in relation to the actual topography of the landscape. Illustrated throughout with the author's beautiful pen and ink sketches, tourists, walkers, ramblers and cyclists will find much in this book to enhance enjoyment and understanding of the countryside wherever they may travel.

This 1991 hardback first edition is signed by the author. The volume is complete with its dustjacket and is bound in pictorial boards. The jacket shows some signs of shelf-wear and is rubbed along the top edge. It is beginning to discolour slightly. The top of the spine is slightly marked. The flyleaf has some faint pencil marks. Otherwise the pages are clean and bright throughout.

Oxfam Bookshop Hexham

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
