Product description

Throughout World War Two, RAF Coastal Command waged a long and bitter battle against Germany's submarine command. Thousands of sorties were flown around the coasts of Britain, into the North Sea, the Bay of Biscay and out into the Atlantic. As the war progressed, so Coastal Command's anti U-boat operations extended to the waters around Iceland, the Azores and off the Spanish coast. Coastal Command lost around 740 aircraft, but sank about 220 German and Italian submarines. Norman Franks, a widely read aviation historian, has written what will become the standard reference book, listing all U-boats destroyed, a narrative of the action between each aircraft and U-boat and details of the aircraft and crew involved. It includes a number of black and white plates.

This hard cover book is in good condition, with some sunning to the spine of the dust jacket. Interior pages are clean and legible.
