This hardback volume is a commemorative edition for the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July to 18 November 1916. It comes complete with a protective slip case. It was written by Duncan Youel and David Edgell, and is fully illustrated with photographs and maps. It was produced with the assistance of Prince Charles, the British Embassy in Paris, The Army Benevolent Fund, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Imperial War Museum, Thiepval Visitor Centre, and the Royal British Legion. It gives the social, cultural and political background in Europe to WWI and then describes step by step how the battle unfolded. There is an accompanying DVD. The hardback boards are in good condition with a small pink stain on the front. The pages are clean and undamaged.
