Black cloth hardback book with gilt titles on the spine, the titles appear rather faded. The cover is in very good condition. The dust jacket is protected with a plastic sleeve, there is a very small tear at the top of the spine, otherwise it is in good condition, the plastic sleeve shows signs of wear. Internally the book is clean, bright and tightly bound. It is illustrated with monochrome photographs and tables of data. The Bhil is a tribal community in India amongst whom the highest incidence of homicide occurs. In a small area of 4,500 square kilometres covering two predominantly Bhil districts in Madhya Pradesh, every thirty second hour, one Bhil is killing the other. Almost all the killings are intra-community. Notwithstanding the killings, the Bhils are by no means criminals. They do not kill with a criminal intent but out of jealousy, passion, quick and unpredictable temper and to avenge their honour and self-respect. The author is S C Varma and the book was published in 1978 by Kunj Publishing House, Delhi.
