The Canals of South West England

£5.99

Product description

The region's waterways have special interest for canal enthusiast, local historian and industrial archaeologist alike. The Exeter is Britain's oldest true canal, and the first to have locks. On the ground lie the remains of the inclined planes of the Chard, Grand Western, Tavistock, Torringtion and Bude Canals; the vertical lifts of the Grand Western and the Dorset & Somerset; the tiny 1.5 miles long Morwellham tunnel and the twenty-five locks of the Liskeard and Looe Union, all visible monuments of the early enterprise.

Dust jacket slightly worn out, and signs of discolouration, refer to pictures for more details.
