The Dawns of Tradition

£25.00

Product description

This book was produced by the Nissan Motor Company in 1983 to demystify the Japanese culture over the centuries and to describe some of the history of Japan and the Japanese culture, and technology.
There is a good overview of Japan at the beginning of the book, which includes an excellent composite picture of the country, taken by the LandSat satellite. Long before "Google Earth," it is a significant achievement, which the authors claim took more than three years (much of the time was required to capture images not obscured by clouds). It so graphically illustrates how small the amount of land is that the vast majority of the Japanese live on. The origins of the Japanese people are covered, with the consensus being that various migrations finally "congealed" into a distinct "people" somewhere between 800 and 300 BC.
