This book was published by Faber and Faber Limited in 1953 and written by K D D Henderson CMG, who was Governor of Darfur. It is the biography of Sir Douglas Newbold who was in the Sudan Political Service and Governor of Kordofan, 1932-1938 and Civil Secretary, 1939-1945. The book contains black and white plates and diagrams to illustrate the text and gives a detailed insight for those interested in colonial studies. The book is in good condition but with foxing and dirty marks to outside edge of pages. The front free end pages are heavily foxed. The black hardback cover is faded, dirty, bumped to corners and rubbed along spine (top and bottom). A book for those studying or interested in the history of the Sudan region that relies on very good primary sources of the period.
