About this item
The Folio Society 1997. Tuchman, Barbara W. Book Condition: As New. Comprising: The March of Folly & A Distant Mirror. Only slight flaw to these two volumes is a tiny amount of creasing to the top of the spines (presumably when being removed from cardboard slipcase).
A twin volume set in the great Folio style. Immaculate throughout.
'A Distant Mirror' is concerned with the effects of the Black Death of 1348-50 on society. This plague killed an estimated one third of all people living between India and Iceland.
Tracing political self-interest across the ages, The March of Folly: From Troy to Vietnam offers an alternative view for a womans understanding of Western world government. Barbara Tuchman employs the legend of the wooden horse as a paradigm to interpret three points in history (late fifteenth century through late twentieth century) when political leaders were duped into blundering badly at the expense of the masses
