The Poor of Eighteenth-century France, 1750-1789

£8.99

Product description

A study of France in the eighteenth century long before it was felt that the state had a responsibility for the wellbeing of all its citizens. How, then, did the submerged two thirds eke out a living? This study won the Wolfson Prize for History in 1975.

Clarendon Press paperback. There is a little generalised tanning. The corners of the covers show minimal bending. There are some lines alongside passages and a little underlining but as far as I can ascertain this is all in pencil. An owner's name is at the head of the title page and a letter in biro on the second title page.
