In his Preface the author states that the purposes of this study were: to show Officers of the Regiment the use to be made of their War Diaries; to illustrate the nature of the information required for historical work; to encourage all Officers present at the action to submit any further information in their possesssion. 87 pp. Maps and sketches still present in back pocket i.e. Maps 1-5 and Sketches A, AA, B and F ( full set as itemised in table of contents ) some slightly browned with age but all in good condition. The covers are bumped at the extremities and rather grubby with several small stains but the printed matter is perfectly legible.The binding is cracked but not broken at page 1. The covers are slightly distorted by the thickness of maps inside the back cover. The pages and actual text are very clean and unmarked.
