The Second Treatise of Government

£9.99

Product description

Locke's 'Two Treatises of Government' were long thought of as having been written to defend the Revolution of 1688, and justify the Whig principles which became dominant in English politics during the following century. The 'Second Treatise' is described as 'An Essay concerning the true original, extent, and end of civil government'.

Edited with a revised introduction by J.W. Gough, Fellow & Tutor of Oriel College, Oxford.

A very good bright copy, tightly bound in original green cloth-covered boards, in a dust jacket which is in similarly good condition, and covered in a protective plastic layer. Some minor foxing on outer edges of pages, but otherwise in very good condition, and perfectly legible.
