The Silk Road

£9.99

Product description

This fascinating book covers more than 2,000 years of history and is illustrated throughout with many manuscripts and paintings from the British Library and other museums worldwide. There are also unique and previously unpublished photographs by the great explorers Stein, Hedin and Mannerheim, many in vivid colour.
The book itself is bound in vibrant turquoise with gilt vignettes reminiscent of Chinese silk paintings, held in a slipcase decorated with a photograph of a camel train in the desert. Decorative end papers take the form of clear maps of The Silk Road , in jade green print on duck egg blue, and depict different parts of the route at front and back.

Book and slipcase appear to be in as new condition.
