The Singapore Cricket Club: Established 1852

£9.99

Product description

The story of the Singapore Cricket Club is a fascinating microcosm of the story of Singapore itself. The Club's transition from an elite colonial sports club to an open, multiracial club playing a leading role in both the sporting and the social life of the wider community mirrors changes in the nation as a whole. The story of the Singapore Cricket Club was first published in 1985. This book is an attractively produced second edition printed in 1993 and includes many colour and b/w photographs. The book is in near-fine condition with a few light marks to edges and slight surface rubbing to corners. The jacket has light general marks and indentations on the glossy surface, and has suffered some creasing to edges and spine ends; there are two small closed tears to the upper edge, approx. 5mm and 7mm, and a closed tear, approx. 14mm to the bottom edge. On the title page is an inscription in black ink by a former owner, dated August 24th 1994. Loose in the book is a letter dated 28th February 1986 from the General Manager of the cricket club, to a Mrs Fitzwilliams in the UK. The letter refers to a copy of the original 1985 book being enclosed. A heavy item requiring courier delivery.
