The Women of Israel

£24.99

Product description

The Women of Israel is an 1875 book published by Groombridge and Sons. It includes characters and sketches from the holy scriptures and Jewish history, illustrative of the past history, present duties and future destiny of the Hebrew females, as based on the word of God.

Considering its age, this particular copy is in good condition. Its brown cloth cover does have obvious signs of wear – scuffing and bumping to its corners namely as well as a few tears to the spine. The front cover is decorated with gilt edges as well as the page edges.

As for the interior, the first few pages of the book are unattached from their original binding. The inside cover does have an interesting inscription to the previous owner. The book’s pages do show signs of browning but no apparent signs of foxing.

Throughout her short life, the author Grace Aguilar showed great promise of noteworthy productions. She was known for her defensive attitudes in equipping English Jewesses with arguments against conversionists. The Women of Israel makes a gripping read for all fascinated by Jewish history.
