Vessels for the Ancestors - Essays on the Neolithic of Britain and Ireland

£110.00

Product description

Very good like new condition with little to no wear. Small crease to front of dust jacket. Small inscription to first page in blue ink

A team of British and Irish prehistorians present this work on the Neolithic. They concentrate specifically on the sites in the North and West of Britain and Ireland - areas which seem to have been glossed over in previous studies. Traditional scholarly presentations are combined with applied theoretical approaches, and there is an emphasis on providing new material to support the theories. The book is divided into four main sections - funerary studies, decorated stones, artefact studies and regional studies. In each section there are new insights into material which has been studied for years as well as a summary of the latest research in the area. There is a discussion of the problems facing Neolithic archaeologists in the region and an analysis of the way forward for future research. Contributors include Richard Bradley, Roger Mercer and George Eogan, and the book should be useful to anyone studying British and Irish prehistory.
