Between the years of 1860 and 1920 some 80,000 Welsh emigrants settled in the USA.. The greatest number settled in Pennsylvania and by 1900 seventeen per cent of them were living in and around Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. There was a thriving Welsh culture and the author examines Welsh-American cultural life, its literary and musical societies, eisteddfodau and religion as well as other aspects such as sport and insobriety, much frowned upon by Welsh community leaders. The book is published by University of Wales Press and the University of Scranton Press.

This copy is excellent condition in an unclipped dust wrapper which has a little chipping - see images above. No marks or inscriptions. Not ex-library.
