Warsop Parish Registers

£9.99

Product description

Warsop Parish Registers
with notes and illustrations by Richard J. King

Paperback. 'Perfect' bound with a pink card cover. Black lettering on cover. Smooth matte inside pages.
Item in fair to poor condition with some splitting of the front cover from the spine at the bottom edge and some pages coming loose from binding. Pen writing on flyleaf.

Facsimile edition from 1985 of the Warsop Parish Register as published in 1884

From the Foreword:

"This study of the Warsop Parish Registers was first produced by Richard King one hundred years ago, in 1884. By happy coincidence 1984 is also the Centenary of the foundation of the Diocese of Southwell and the Old Warsop Society is to be commended for arrancing for this reprint of the work as a contribution to our Diocesan Centenary celebrations. It is the nearest thing there is to a 'History of Warsop' from the time registers were first required to be kept in 1538 until 1884, and provides a fascinating insight into the long story of our parish and the social conditions in which its inhabitants lived over the centuries." (F. G. Green Rector of Warsop 1983)
