Wings on her Shoulders

£14.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Subtitled a vivid picture of life and work in the W.A.A.F. This book is a description, written from personal experiences, of life in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force. Leading figures in both the R.A.F. and the W.A.A.F. appear as the author comes across them in her work. The growth of the Service is shown against the background of the war with vivid first-hand accounts of attacks on airfields during the Battle of Britain.

The book contains 40 photographs by Cecil Beaton and a foreword by Lady Portal.

Hard back book with dust jacket. The jacket has some tears along the edges and some marking along the spine, but is generally in good condition. The book has 'June 1943' written in ink, of the front endpaper. The rest of the book is in very good condition and was printed according to the wartime economy standard.
