American Furniture

£19.99

Product description

From Jacobean (often known as Pilgrim) to early Victorian, the developments of American variations on the English styles is traced, always in close relationship with the architectural developments and regional characteristics and the men whose names were associated with the periods and styles. New techniques, phases and details that differentiated the American from the English, all have their place. Each photograph is captioned to identify not only subject and date, but where the specific furniture is located. Bound in yellow with a black cloth spine with gilt lettering, head and foot of the spine are bumped and a little frayed; the front end pages have a neatly ink written name and an ex-libris stamp (both Susan Reedy). Text block edges are minimally age toned, all text is clear on clean pages. There are many photographs, most b/w but several in glorious colour.
