An Alpine Garden Society Guide Bundle

£6.00

Product description

An Alpine Garden Society Guide Bundle.
Perfect for all green-fingered people as a gift or to add to an existing collection.

The three guides that are included in the bundle are 'Alpine Gardening : A Beginners Guide', 'Cyclamen The Genius in the Wild & in Cultivation' and 'Propagation of Alpine Plants'.

Alpine Gardening : A Beginners Guide - written by W.F.W Harding. This guide is intended for the real beginner. It aims to dispel any nervousness he may feel about the mystique of Alpine Gardening and to set you off to a sound start which may serve as a springboard for further progress as experience and enthusiasm grow.

Cyclamen : The Genius in the Wild & in Cultivation - written by D.E. Saunders. The genus CYCLAMEN belongs to the Natural Order Primulaceae and despite some superficial resemblances to Dodecatheon and Soldanella, has no obvious affinities with other genera in the family. The first really authoritative account of the genus was given by Hildebrand, and his exhaustive monograph - Die Gattung Cyclamen - published in 1898 is still a standard work, although some of his conclusions regarding the delimitation of the species have had to be modified in the light of more recent knowledge.

Propagation of Alpine Plants - written by JK Hulme. The propagation if plants is the most interesting and essential part of all gardening activities. Like all other living organisms plants pass through phases of development juvenile, mature and senescent. To maintain healthy stocks we must continually raise young plants to replace the ageing specimens in our collections. The successful grower of alpine plants is often the guardian of choice or rare species, the perpetuation of which demands the exploitation of every skill and technique of propagation.
