Eileen M. Bolton: Lichens for Vegetable Dyeing

£14.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Published Studio Books (1960). 1st Edition hardback with dust jacket. Dust jacket in good condition with minor chipping and signs of shelf wear. Book is bound in slightly faded red cloth boards with title on spine in black. Front page has names and addresses written in biro and this page is also age-toned. Apart from this, the text is clean and unmarked with just a little foxing.

"A short handbook designed specifically for students, teachers and amateur weavers, and of which there is nothing comparable currently available. It describes in detail the various lichens found in the British Isles and in the United States of America from which textile dyes are made - where to find them, when to gather them and how to process and use them for dyeing - and the text is supported by a colour photograph of hand-dyed wools and five specially drawn colour illustrations of the lichens in their natural surroundings."
