In the dictionary the author has collected together technical information to help craft potters. Included are analyses, charts, descriptions, definitions, formulas, materials and equipment, recipes, step-by-step instructions on processes, terms used in ceramics – information that is vital to all potters. There are 1200 entries, which are listed alphabetically, and over 450 illustrations including b/w photographs, graphs, line drawings, and 24 colour plates of finished work. The book has white boards and gilt titles, but cannot be seen fully because the jacket has been covered with a protective plastic film which is secured to the book end papers; the film has a few creases and small splits around the spine ends, and some general handling marks and light indentations. Inside, the end papers and half-title have some light foxing, and pages are very lightly tanned around edges; text is clean and bright. The book provides a foundation of knowledge which will help potters master the technique of their craft.
