Smooth black cloth binding with gilt lettering and figures on the front cover and spine (faded). Slight bumping to spine ends. There is some out-bending of the front cover. Illustrated end papers showing a scene with people outside a pub, in two-tone black and pale green. Light tanning to next end paper, with ex-owner's name, which is also on a printed label on inside front cover. Henry Fielding's first full-length comic novel. First published in 1742.
