German language translation of Russian author's novel which made its first appearance in French form under the title "Le petit salaud". The author is heavily involved in poliltics in Russia today having returned there in 1991 following periods in the USA and France. Young Ed Sawenko whom we know from previous novels is now all of 23 years old and through his lover the Jewish bookseller Anna, who is seven years his senior and rather motherly, he moves in literary and artistic circles in Kharkov in the late 60's. Limonov presents a portrait of the Russian beatniks of that period as the two main characters try in their own way to make an artistic masterpiece out of their own lives which they live out against the grey, drab background of everyday socialist reality.
