The Making of the Modern Homosexual was edited by Kenneth Plummer, Lecturer in Sociology University of Essex. It is a first edition and was published by Hutchinson in 1981. The early chapters in the book are primarily conceptual and aim to clarify the nature of the homosexual role. The concluding chapters are more substantive and produce findings on the development of homosexual categories and the organisation of the male gay world. The book is in very good condition but bears the name of a previous owner to the inside front cover. There are some pencil markings to some pages, but otherwise they are good. The paperback cover shows little wear and tear. The Theory and Practice of Homosexuality was written by John Hart and Diane Richardson et al. It was published by Routledge Kegan and Paul in 1981. It pages particular attention to the everyday problems encountered by men and women living in what is often a hostile environment. The book is in very good condition but with no marks or highlighting to pages. These two books will be of interested to gay people as well as those involved in social sciences, psychology or those involved in gender studies.
