About this item
An original memoir from the pioneering rock star, and former leading member of the band Throwing Muses. Aged 15, in 1981, Hersh was a preternaturally bright student and started university, whilst also playing with her band in clubs she was too young to frequent. But by the age of 17, she was living in her car, unable to sleep for the torment of the strange songs in her head. As her band took off, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia, and had an unplanned pregnancy that led to the birth of her first son in 1985. Playful, vivid and brave, this is a truly original memoir from a truly original performer.
