The first part of this book describes the evolution of Swan Lake from it's initial failure to the eventual triumph of the Petipa-Ivanov version. The second part is devoted to the actual presentation of the ballet. The choreography of all four acts of the Petipa-Ivanov version is set out in full, in a slightly simplified form. The book also contains numerous black & white illustrations depicting costumes, stage designs and scenes from the ballet.
