A Critical History of English Literature, Four Volume Set

£50.00

Product description

A four volume set which ranges from Anglo-Saxon literature through to the twentieth century novel. All volumes in unclipped dustjackets which have slight discolouration of the spines; volume four dust jacket has a superficial scratch mark across the front. Blue cloth hard covers with gilt titles on the spines, all in 'as new' condition. Text blocks are clean and unmarked with tight binding. Overall in very good condition with little sign of usage. Second edition, reprinted 1972. With a constant sense of excited discovery the author storms his way through our enormous and complex tradition, balancing historical background and 'pure' criticism to a hair's breadth of good judgement. The highest tribute to the greatest literary heritage in the world.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
