Keats's Myth of The Fall - Signed Copy

£6.99

Product description

The author, Professor of English at Waseda University, Tokyo, became interested in the fact that the religious milieu of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries was disastrous, as a consequence of the Established Church having lost a firm grip on the faith of the people. He found that people were obliged to seek a new form and content which would satisfy their needs for religious faith, and that this trend coincided with the birth of various personal myths of the Romantic poets. He then re-read John Keats' poems from the viewpoint of myth, and applied a myth-making pattern to some of Keats' major works: this book describes the results.
