The Shah and the Ballet

£4.99

Product description

Subtitled "....and other rhymes and poems, humorous and serious." Contents in photos attached.

The preface says:
"The following verses were written twenty years ago in the scant leisure of a hard worked man of business. They have no pretensions to intrinsic value as literature, but are published in the belief that what a busy man has felt pleasure in creating , other busy men-to quote Matthew Arnold's words-will take pleasure in contemplating.

The last part of the book consists of some of the rhymes written for distribution in the streets of Birmingham on eight successive Hospital Saturdays; 40,000 copies of these were printed each year."

The Hospital Saturday Fund still exists.

Presumably this is effectively a self-published work.

Presumed first. Hardback without jacket. Covers marked. Contents clean.

First blank page has handwritten "With the Author's Kind Regards."
