The Works of George Herbert in Prose and Verse - Volumes I & II

£39.99

Product description

Two Volumes published in 1873 by Bickers and Son, first published in 1859

George Herbert (1593 – 1633) was a Welsh poet, orator and Anglican priest. Herbert's poetry is associated with the writings of the metaphysical poets, and he is recognized as 'a pivotal figure: enormously popular, deeply and broadly influential, and arguably the most skilful and important British devotional lyricist.'

In good condition with marks and darkening of covers and spine. Some bumping, rubbing and tanning of edges with age. Although the bindings are generally fairly sound, the frontispiece and title page on Vol. I is partially detached, and there is a split along the front end paper of Vol. II.
