This collection contains not only translations from Roman, French, German and Italian poets but also a number of original pieces. In all there can be seen the hand of the craftsman who has mastered the craft of versification and who, when he chooses a poem to translate, instinctively looks to such poets, Horace, Ronsard, Heine, Baudelaire, as will most try his skill. The reader will judge with what grace and sureness he has passed the self-imposed test.
A good copy, tightly bound in original red cloth-covered boards, in a dust jacket which is in similarly good condition, with minor wear. Printed on paper hand-made by Hodgkinson of Wells in Somerset.
