First World War poetry written by a fighting soldier, Lt. Seaforth Highlanders (51st Division), who died at Cambrai in the 1st World War. It also contains some short prose pieces titled 'Three Studies in War Psychology'. Bound in light brown cloth with an embossed gilt design on the front and lettering on spine. The cover has light general marks, an ink blot on the front cover and also two circular "cup marks"; corners, spine ends and edges are bumped. The text block front and lower edges are mainly untrimmed. Areas of light foxing to the margins of some early leaves, and the frontispiece, tissue and title page are browned. An introductory Memoir, with short biographical details, has been written by John Murray.
