This was compiled for " For the use of all students of History and for all persons who desire speedy access to the facts and events which relate to the histories of the various countries of the world from the earliest recorded dates." Published in 1900 in New York, compiled by Charles E Little. compiler of Biblical Lights and Historical lights and Side-lights.
Book has been neatly rebound in green cloth cover with darker green leather-look cloth around the spine. Title and library reference stamped in gilt on spine. Slight surface loss from rubbing to top right edge and bottom of spine. Creases to top left corner of back. Edges of text block browned with slight soiling to top and bottom. Surprisingly good condition for its age. Ex-library - Tower Hamlets and Bethnal Green library stamps on title and other pages and on top edge. Withdrawn sticker on front end paper.
Inside - some repairs have been carried out : bottom corner of pp. 481-482 replaced with blank piece and approx. 4.8 cm of text missing; tear approx. 2.6 cm to top of p. 851 which is creased because of a page size error when originally printed; pp. 850 and 851 have ink and finger soiling on edges; last page, 1454 has Sellotape repair across tear approx. 5.5cm but text legible.
