The information provided here, although concise and restricted to the essentials, is sufficiently detailed to enable users to make comparisons and decisions based on local conditions, fish sought and availability. Designs selected for commercial efficiency include trawls (bottom and midwater), Danish seines, lampara, purse seines, liftnets, stownet, gillnets and tangle nets, pots, dredges, lines. The book contains parallel texts in English, French and Spanish. An ex-library book, a cataloguing label has been attached to the base of the spine, the front free end paper has a borrowing date sheet and two other library stamps/ bar codes. Stamps also on the text block edges. The light brown cloth boards have a yellow and white line drawing. The covers have a worn look with general marks and surface rubbing; two small surface chips to the lower front edge; corners and spine ends are bumped and worn and the top of the spine has closed tears, up to approx. 5 mm, on each side. Text block edges are lightly soiled, with a few light foxing spots on the leading edge. A revised and updated edition of the book first published in 1972.
