THe Illustrated London News vol LVII

£75.00

Product description

From the school library of Tudor Grange School (as stated on the bookplate inside the front board), probably located in Worcestershire, comes this venerable collection of The Illustrated London News, covering July to December 1870. The cover is in two pieces, detached from the textblock. It is quarter bound in brown cloth and leather which has wear commensurate with the volume's age. The text block is split into two parts with some damage to the page at the break. The first illustration shows the top section only of the spine. Despite the need for t.l.c. and possible restoration, all other text is clear and legible, the numerous b/w line drawings or engravings remain striking and/or charming, dependent upon their subject. Our illustration shows the cover dated October 15, 1870. The book is very large and heavy, requiring courier delivery.
