Masonically, the two counties of Cumberland and Westmorland have been a Province since 1860. A history of Craft Masonry in the province was published in1879, this new history surveys the whole range of Freemasonry in the Province, with 12 orders and 149 lodges, chapters etc operating 30 different masonic centres. The thumbnail histories of all the assemblies, prepared by the lodge historians, combine to give an overview of Freemasonry in Cumberland and Westmorland.
The book is bound in boards printed with a map of Penrith and area in red on blue boards. The lettering is blue as is a faux heraldic crest combining symbols of the two areas with Masonic instruments. Tight text block, pristine pages within.
Signed by the author, the Provincial Senior Grand Warden, this very scarce book is in superb condition.
