Understanding the Electrocardiogram.

£29.99

Product description

Electrocardiograms are the most commonly applied technique for detecting whether someone has or has not heart disease, the number one killer in developed countries. Yet the interpretation of ECG results has often bewildered even the experienced medic. With over a decade of teaching cardiology to medical students, Derek Rowlands presents an approach to learning just how to interpret ECG results for diagnosis and prognosis.

This volume addresses three common obstacles to studying electrocardiography. These are : the enormous range of appearances possible for the normal electrocardiogram; the variations in learning approach from one student to another; exceptions to a given rule/concept in ECG analysis which students often find frustrating.

This volume assumes no prior knowledge of electrocardiagraphy but it is expected that the student/learner will have an interest in cardiology and a certain degree of dedication to acquiring the ability of interpretation. Coverage includes : How to use this book; the normal electrocardiogram and the twelve lead system; the normal electrocardiographic appearances; a systematic approach to the interpretation of the ECG; the twelve lead electrocardiogram - annotated records. The text is accompanied by diagrams, anatomical drawings, charts, and schemata.
