Universal Dictionary of the English Language

£34.99

Product description

This English dictionary was designed to be of moderate and medium size, distinctly smaller than Webster but considerably larger than the Concise Oxford. It was agreed that this dictionary would be distinguished from the latter work, not so much as by the inclusion of a larger number of words, as by a fuller and less condensed mode of treatment. More space wall allowed for actual definitions, illustrative examples, etymologies, discussions of changes of meanings, and so on.

Hard back book. Half leather bound. The cover has some marks and evidence of rubbing along the edges of the spine. The title page and the preface page are creased, as is at least one further page. Otherwise the pages are in very good condition with no damage or annotations.

Tenth impression.
