Buddha, Marx and God

£20.00

Product description

While the author's professional concern is with the philosophy and history of religion, in writing this book, he has had in mind all who are in any way concerned with the subject of religion in the modern world.

The book's starting point is the contemporary religious situation in the West and the growing appeal of Buddhism to Westerners. Since there are a number of misconception s in the West about Buddhism, its faith and practice and its social dimension, a considerable portion of the book is devoted to a descriptive account of Buddhism as it actually exists, most clearly seen in the life and culture of South East Asia. But the book is concerned also with the clash of ideologies in the world in which both Buddhism and Christianity are involved, and particularly the clash of religious faiths with secular materialism and Marxist Communism.
